When Is It Reasonable to Throw in the Towel?
A lot of people talk about giving up.
They want to start a new life, want to get a do-over or want to be reborn with the knowledge they have.
Reincarnation, Time Travel, and the ability to chose a different path are ideas that are becoming more and more popular.
We want to win in life and a true do-over would allow us a head-start.
We could lead a different life, work harder, succeed more and be happier.
But we sadly get no do-overs in life.
In fact, we cannot even get a fresh start anymore, for our life has already begun.
Even if we gave up everything we would still have to contend with our age, would still be largely the same as we were when we gave it up, still had the same past, and still had to live through the consequences of that.
We cannot re-start. There is no giving up until the end; we are always moving forward whether we want to or not. And even that the end is truly the end is a controversial idea at best.
But we can give up things along the way.
We can give up on parts of our life to make room for others, and while we may not create a truly fresh start, we can create new chapters in our story.
