Why Bad Habits Are So Hard To Change & 6 Steps You Can Change Them

We lie to a friend, they accept our lie and what would have been a horrible situation turns into something that is far more manageable.

We plan to do something, tell the world about it, get rewarded for our amazing plans and, when it comes push to shove, we weasel our way out with an excuse that makes sense, creating no negative side effects.

We are stressed, go outside for a smoke and for that one moment all the worries in the world seem to disappear.

We go to the store, see that bar of chocolate on sale and buy it out of impulse. At home we dig into it and get to enjoy the sensation of tasting something truly delicious.

All of these small stories are examples of what we often miss with the bad habits we have.

There is something about the habit that holds us to it.

That is why it is so hard to go “cold turkey” with any bad habit.

Every habit has a reason for being in our life, no matter how bad.

Simply abolishing the habit does nothing other than causing a lack within us.

The ironic thing is that because we had this bad habit to fill this lack we never had to look for an alternative.
