Why Happiness Will Never Be Found In What You Do Not Have
We want to be happy forever.
Happiness is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the light at the end of the tunnel, the thing that we all search for no matter in what area of life.
We search for happiness in our relationships, careers and within ourselves, and everything we do, we do because we want it to make us happy in the end.
Happiness is always the goal.
But the problem is that we can never have it, at least not permanently.
Every time we are happy we feel that way for a while and then it goes and disappears again.
There is no permanence when it comes to happiness; it is but a fleeting emotion.
The problem is that this is not something we can accept.
We are bombarded with ideas of happiness, with “happy ever after” and with people leading lives of seemingly endless joy all the time.
Social Media, Movies, TV Shows and even the stories our friends tell us are always highlight reels.
They take the best of their lives and show those stories to us, making us feel unhappy in comparison, as we compare the rest of our life against their best moments.
