Why I Do Not Believe Good People Exist
I do not believe good people exist.
Not because there are only bad people or because no one is good in my point of view, but because I believe that every person only does things out of what they think is best.
This means that there is no objectively good thing, but a subjective, relative one that depends on the eye of the beholder.
Allow me to explain.
No single action that anyone can do is innately good or bad.
Even killing another human being does not have to be a good or bad action, depending on what happens afterwards.
We agree on the negativity of it because we believe death and the afterlife to be a horrible thing.
However, if we knew that death is a liberation to a higher plane of existence, that we would meet all our loved ones and that we would be eternally happy, then killing another human being may not be so bad.
This means that whatever action a person takes is not good or bad at its core.
Of course there are a lot of actions that we all agree are bad, but every one of those comes with exceptions to the rule.
Another example of this is the “charity” dilemma: When you give a homeless person money are you helping them or making their life…
