Why I Stopped Believing In Chance Events

When I left home to live on my own my dad handed me a book.

It was a rather spiritual book and I thought it was just some mumbo-jumbo when he first gave it to me, but he insisted I take it, even if I didn’t read it.

I thanked him and put it on my shelf as soon as I had moved in, where that book sat for years collecting dust.

As I continued to live my life I eventually forgot about it.

Fast-forward a few years…

I was preparing for a vacation with a friend to go to Egypt for a week.

It was an all-inclusive trip and as I was preparing for it I rummaged through my things trying to find a book to take with me.

That was the first time I touched the book since I left it on that shelf.

“You know what… why not?” I thought to myself and packed it.

I do not know what brought me to give it a chance then, nor how I even found it, but that was just the first out of many coincidences.

Regardless, I packed the book and left.

Since this was during the Revolution in Egypt the trip was cheap but it was also dangerous to leave the hotel area, and so we mainly spent our time by the pool or at the beach.
